How to Sublimate a Sublimation 12x22cm Stone Photo Display in a Flat Press.

What do I Need to Print a Sublimation 12x22cm Stone Photo Display in a Flat Press?

Flat heat press. 38x38cm Flat Heat Press
Mirror printed artwork.
Coool sublimation heat tape. 8mm Sublimation Tape
Clean plain white paper or Teflon sheets. Teflon Sheet
Heat resistant gloves.

Heat Transfer Process for a Sublimation 12x22cm Stone Photo Display in a Flat Press.

Before heating the press, place the blank stone photo display in the press and adjust the pressure to medium pressure. Remove the stone photo display from the press and set the temperature to 190°C and the time to 420 seconds.
Measure the print area of the stone photo display. Recommended artwork size is 220x120mm.
Mirror the image and print it on sublimation paper with Coool Sublimation ink and cut carefully.
Secure the print face down onto the white side of the stone photo display with Coool Sublimation heat tape. Ensure that the paper is aligned correctly and smooth out any wrinkles and bubbles.
Once the press reaches 190°C, place the stone photo display with the back of the printed paper facing towards the element of the press. Close the press and start the timer.
When the timer beeps, open the press, wear heat resistant gloves and carefully remove the stone photo display, take caution as the stone photo display will be extremely hot.
Removing the paper can be done in two ways, the first option is to remove the paper when the item is still hot, just be careful that the printed paper does not touch the area again as this can cause ghosting. The second option is to let the product cool down when the product is cold remove the paper and the print will be perfect.

Tips and Tricks to Sublimate a Sublimation 12x22cm Stone Photo Display in a Flat Press.

To prevent ghosting open the press slowly, when opening the press to fast, the paper will lift and it will cause ghosting. Be sure to remove the paper fast from the product and not to touch the printed area with the paper after you started lifting it.

Some times during heat transferring, ink residue remains on the heat press rubber or element, to prevent this from transferring to the sublimation product cover the rubber and the product with a Teflon sheet or white paper.

It is advisable to preheat the press rubber on colder days, when the press reaches 190°C close the press for +-5 seconds without the product to heat up the rubber.
